The SOLAS ST-CD-14/19 impeller is designed with SOLAS engineering expertise to support responsive watercraft performance. SOLAS impellers are made from ultra-high-strength, corrosion-resistant stainless steel and cast in a one-piece mold. This manufacturing approach creates a precise blade profile without bending the blade edges to achieve the intended pitch.
Pitch selection affects acceleration and top speed. A smaller pitch can improve acceleration while reducing top speed, whereas increasing pitch can reduce acceleration and increase top speed. A higher-than-stock pitch may be used for watercraft with more horsepower than stock, while lower-than-stock options may be suitable for high-altitude or high-temperature applications where horsepower is reduced, when applicable.
SOLAS notes that limited and modified impeller recommendations can be used in either application depending on the desired RPM and speed. Lower-than-stock pitch may also be used with a watercraft featuring a re-flashed ECU that increases the rev limiter for more RPM, when applicable. Reduced pitch can help accommodate higher carried weight by limiting the volume of water through the pump.
